Tigers to meet Hawks in Vic wheelchair grand final

14 SEP 2023 BY: AFL VICTORIA
Richmond will play Hawthorn in the 2023 Victorian Wheelchair Football League Grand Final
Richmond will be out to defend their Robert Rose Foundation Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) presented by the TAC premiership when they take a red-hot Hawthorn in the 2023 Grand Final at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) on Sunday 17 September.

The Tigers and Hawks will clash at 1pm on a big day for the growing sport. Earlier this year, the first Wheelchair NAB AFL Auskick centre launched with a match to conclude the season set to take place at 11am on Sunday. Then at 12pm in the curtain-raiser to the big one, Richmond will face St Kilda in the Community Wheelchair Football League Grand Final.

In an action-packed day of finals football last weekend at MSAC, Hawthorn qualified for their first ever VWFL Grand Final with a big Qualifying Final victory over Collingwood.

After defeating Essendon in the Elimination Final, Richmond overcame the Magpies by just four points in a thrilling Preliminary Final to progress to the decider and keep their dream of being the first VWFL back-to-back premiers alive.

Hawthorn finished the home-and-away season on top of the ladder while Richmond finished third. Full 2023 VWFL results and ladder on PlayHQ here

Both the VWFL and CWFL Grand Finals will be live streamed free on the VWFL Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/VicWheelchairFL
