The annual Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards have recognised AFL Victoria's own Steve Odgers as the Administrator of the Year.

Steve has worked tirelessly to build and promote the AFL's inclusion and diversity programs, in an effort to make Australian football accessible to more people across the state.

Steve is pictured with Richmond and Essendon captains prior to the 2022 Robert Rose Foundation Victorian Wheelchair Football League Grand Final, a competition he has been heavily involved in.

One of the key reasons Steve was recognised was because of the instrumental role he has played in the establishment of the VWFL Development League, first played in 2022 as a feeder competition for the senior league.

With the VWFL seniors, the VWFL development league and a junior program now being organised, more than 100 wheelchair footballers have the opportunity the participate across the state with further growth projected.

Entrants in the awards are nominated by state sporting associations, regional sport assemblies, local government, teammates, club members, coaches or their local community to recognise their outstanding contribution to inclusive sport and recreation.
