A decade of Big Freeze kicks off this week

Community clubs can buy their Big Freeze socks and beanies ahead of the Big Freeze Community Round on June 1-2

The AFL is once again throwing its full support behind FightMND for the annual Big Freeze campaign that kicked off last night with a launch event at The LUME in Melbourne on May 8.

In its 10th year, the FightMND Big Freeze campaign will be bigger and better than ever, and FightMND are calling on community clubs around Australia to get around the cause and take action to help beat the beast that is Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

For Big Freeze 10, it’s not what we say, it’s what we do that matters, and FightMND are urging all community clubs to get involved by pulling on their Big Freeze 10 socks and wearing a Beanie for FightMND.

Big Freeze 10 socks and beanies can be purchased in bulk from the FightMND website, to be worn at local footy games across the country as the footy community rallies together during the Big Freeze Community Round on June 1-2. Clubs are encouraged to host a Big Freeze event during the Community Round or at any time in the lead up to the AFL Big Freeze events in Rounds 13 and 14.

In addition to the annual Big Freeze at the G when Collingwood host Melbourne at the MCG in AFL Round 13, the Big Freeze will head interstate, with events at AFL games in Perth, Brisbane and for the first time in Adelaide as well.

With the AFL Big Freeze events growing with new interstate engagement, there has never been a better time for community clubs across the country to get behind this great cause and raise funds in their local area through a Big Freeze event.

The interstate campaign will kick off in AFL Round 13 at Optus Stadium on June 1 for the West Coast Eagles vs. St Kilda match, returning to Perth after successful activations over the last few years. It will then head to South Australia for the first time, with an activation at Adelaide Oval on June 6, for the Adelaide Crows vs. Richmond Tigers match in. The 2024 campaign will conclude in Brisbane on June 14, returning to the Gabba for the second year in a row for the Brisbane Lions vs. St Kilda match in Round 14.
