JUNIOR (8-12)

There are over 74 community football leagues across Australia providing boys and girls the opportunity to play Australian Football. Junior Football is the next step for kids who are ready to move on from NAB AFL Auskick or other introductory school and/or community programs.

Many girls prefer to play Australian Football in single gender environments, and where possible we recommend girls over age 10 do so. However, should your daughter prefer to play in mixed-gender team or competition they are permitted to do so until age 14.

Junior football rules are modified to meet the skill level and safety needs of girls and boys in a structured football competition.

Competitions are managed by local community football leagues and their clubs. Girls are welcomed enthusiastically in junior football with new all female teams starting up all over Melbourne and regional Victoria.

YOUTH (13-18)

Tailor made for players of all abilities and aspirations, Youth Football caters to teenage boys and girls aged from 13 to 18. An ideal progression from either NAB AFL Auskick or Junior Football, Youth Football provides children with the opportunity to play in a graded competition within a club environment.

Fun, fast and often skillful, Youth Football is a chance for children to play football with their friends and establish new friendships, with a distinct focus on team building.

SENIOR

Community football leagues and clubs provide an opportunity for Senior players to participate in football competitions from social to sub-elite level.

Football is an integral part of many local communities and community football competitions are thriving like never before.
